State High by Vulture Street Tape Gang

'State High' is the second installment in the 'Vulture Street Beat Tape' series and the sequel to 'Hung Phat Jewellery'. Another 60 minutes of completely improvised on-the-spot electronic music for drums, synthesizers, voice and sampled bits-and-pieces compiled from recordings of live shows and bedroom sessions between june and september 2015.

Thematic fragments include heavy science-fiction suggestions and mild infrequent drug use combined with classic 80's electro funk, psychedelic jazz-rock explorations, hands-in-the-air feel-good/feel-weird soul jams all stuck together like a scrapbook homage to teenage years spent skipping high school, smoking weed and ignoring for a moment the inevitable and impending doom of suburban white middle class privileged australian conservatism.

Far from polished, it also makes of itself a sort of punk gesture to the super clean digital electronic music of the internet age and a dreamlike inquiry into the infinite possibilities of sonic improvisation and the 'suggestion' of style in music.
