Thundersnow 2026 by snwv
Thundersnow is an annual gathering of the PRF community, traditionally at Terrace Bay Hotel on the Little Bay de Noc in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I'd had plans for what I'd wanted to do in this performance, and did none of them. Instead, the music led in another direction--consonant, pentatonic, with some minor intervals appearing from time to time. Timbres range from reed or organ textures to something like string synth, though there's no synthesizer in the signal path.
A few times I looked up and saw that people were lying on the floor, which is always a sign of the performance working.
On listening back, I'd thought that this would work as a half-speed, octave-down experience as well, and that's included.

Maurice Rickard is a musician, sound artist, and Deep Listening Certificate holder based in Pittsburgh. snwv is his project to create ambient environments from finely tuned oscillators and other sound sources as well (guitar, microphones, feedback).
