Sunwall Sessions by Marcus Eads
A master in the realms of the traditional, Ead's Sunwall Sessions is an exploration of how far one can strip back a piece while keeping its essence intact, made solely out of acoustic strummings and pickings. Through all this, it manages to feel fully fleshed out as an album, each note being entirely purposeful in driving its movement forward.
Tied together by the nature of their instrumentation and composition, each song is allowed to express more of a distinct mood in such a fashion as well. From the more adventurous rhythms of Crooked Lake to the somber, slow-paced Moose River Trail, there's something for just about every occasion packed onto its runtime.
Originally released physically in 2015 with the tracks Cut Bank Blues and John Newton's Conversion appended to its end, these songs have been digitally re-released alongside other albums of Eads' over time, though they are now present once again in both this digital release and reissue of the physical cassette.
