At the end of the 80's, Gregoire Charbey exchanges tapes as a hometaper in high school, in a spirit of tinkering with organs, toys and delay pedals, under the name of SPIRITUS NAEVUS, then through the micro label EXPREL, in the early 90's. The sound is already experimental, soaring, made of layers, oscillations, textures. Spiritus Naevus participates in many compilations and some concerts.
At the same time as music projects for short films, documentaries and shows, and inconclusive experiments in purely digital universes, the interest for gliding, slow and dark music is reborn with GURU BOBOL. It's a return to analog sounds, to free experimentation, to improvisation, a more assumed music, without intermediary and very little mastering. The sound sources are recorded on a 4-track cassette, in mono output like the amp on which everything comes out. The use of looper allows to include acoustic sounds, the superimposed layers of voices humanizing the electronics by haunting murmurs.
The names of the pieces evoke, in fictitious vernacular, places, people, sensations. These onomatopoeic sonorities resulting from random combinations leave the music without objective explanation, without common reference point. The visuals that accompany the music are mainly borrowed from a parallel plastic work, made of mud, dry grass and sand.
ESOGRIPHE is composed of 7 tracks in direct take, improvisational pieces cut in a fat and abundant raw material, but which knows neither beginning nor end. The arrangement of the tracks between them tries to organize an intelligible journey, despite the flow, the accidents and the oscillations.

Fin des années 80, Grégoire Charbey échange des cassettes en tant que home taper au lycée, dans un esprit de bricolages à base d'orgues, jouets et pédales delay, sous le nom de SPIRITUS NAEVUS, puis par l'intermédiaire du micro label EXPREL, au début des années 90. Le son est déjà expérimental, planant, fait de nappes, d'oscillations, de textures. Spiritus Naevus participe à de nombreuses compilations et quelques concerts.
Parallèlement à des projets de musiques pour des court-métrages, des documentaires et des spectacles, des expériences peu concluantes dans les univers purement numériques, l'intérêt pour les musiques planantes, lentes et sombres renaît avec GURU BOBOL. C'est un retour aux sons analogiques, à l'expérimentation gratuite, à l'improvisation, une musique plus assumée, sans intermédiaire et très peu de mastering. Les sources sonores sont enregistrées sur un 4 pistes cassette, en sortie mono comme l'ampli sur lequel tout sort. L'emploi de looper permet d’inclure des sons acoustiques, les nappes de voix superposées humanisant l'électronique par des murmures lancinants.
Les noms des morceaux évoquent, en langage vernaculaire fictif, des lieux, des personnes, des sensations. Ces sonorités onomatopiques issues de combinaisons aléatoires laissent la musique sans explication objective, sans repère commun. Les visuels qui accompagnent la musique sont empruntés principalement à un travail plastique mené en parallèle, fait de boue, d'herbes sèches et de sable.
ESOGRIPHE comprend 7 morceaux en prise directe, des morceaux d'improvisation coupés dans une matière première grasse et abondante, mais qui ne connait ni début ni fin. L'agencement des pistes entre elles tente d'organiser un voyage intelligible, malgré le flot, les accidents et les oscillations.
