An electronic film score for the 1943 silent film: Meshes of the Afternoon. It was made primarily with analog synthesizers, mostly modular. I attempted to interpret the feeling and rhythm of the film using technology that did not exist at the time of its creation. Like the spirit of the film that Maya Deren and Alexandr Hackenschmied made, my goal was to create a complimentary work that was experimental but still cohesive. I hope the filmmakers would approve.
Nick Herman is a multi-instrumentalist musician-composer. He weaves melodies and sound from disparate idioms, primarily through his classical guitar and a small army of modular synthesizers.
