Brown Finger by Impossible Mule

As an art project I wondered if an English author dude (Puppet Nation is available at all good book stockists) who mostly makes Psych Folk music could sound like a socially conscious American rap/hip hop group? I do all the voices and music production.
Brown Finger is the first track from an as yet untitled hip hop album that will appear later this year. On the surface you would be mistaken for thinking Brown Finger a protest song. It isn’t. It’s more of a question born out of bafflement as to about how it has come to this?

Raw, haunting and deeply melodic tales of longing, reckoning and the strange beauty found in quiet. Sometimes there’s piano, or harmonica, a lo-fi drum machine and, when the mood takes me, beatboxing. At the center is a rich baritone pulling each track into its own distinct world. Every song is recorded and manipulated entirely using a phone app, which I hope adds an unexpected intimacy and grit.
