Land by Andrew Heath and Mi Cosa de Resistance

Land is an album that fully explores Fernando’s beautifully elegant acoustic guitar sketches. When I first heard these simple pieces, I felt all that was needed was for them to be framed, or held in some quiet bed of sound with perhaps only the occasional small pebble thrown it to ruffle or disturb the surface texture and react with this intimate sound of Fernando’s guitar.

Whilst working on the album (at the time with no title), I kept replaying scenes from a film I’d recently seen called ‘Land’. And so this became, in mind, like a new soundtrack, set in a beautiful wilderness.

Mi Cosa de Resistance (Argentinian ambient musician, Fernando Perales) and I have worked together before on two albums, Dispatches with Anne Chris Bakker and Café Tristesse, both of which explored Fernando’s beautifully restrained guitar work.

Driftworks is a small, boutique label based in the UK. We specialise in lower case, ambient and minimal music often containing fragmentary melodies and field recordings. We create hand-made, limited special edition CDs for our artists containing ephemera and other delightful objects.
