Revolutions by Daniel Bachman

This record was inspired and written during a 7 week course (Nov-Dec 2025) that I took through Plum Village Monastery with monastics, climate science professionals, and social justice advocates, discussing the role engaged Buddhism can play in a world approaching worst case scenario outcomes of climate breakdown, and I’d like to give sincere thanks for the scholarship I was awarded that helped me be able to attend.

At this same time, I had just started making music with the Cantareel device made by Logic Wave in Japan, a 3D printed attachment that allows you to bow several strings on a guitar at the same time, creating deep organic drones. Accompanying those drones, at times, are notes and improvisations played with my shruti box, as well as samples I made using a drum machine on my phone.

The cover image is one of the first images of Earth ever taken by NASA during the Explorer 6 program in 1959, and is overlaid with the colors of a prism that I watch moving across our walls every day. The track titles can be read as a poem. I also encourage anyone interested in the course to check it out for yourself, especially artists and activists looking to more deeply incorporate a practice of mindfulness in their daily life and work.
